"Federation of free-style wrestling in the Smolensk region" in 2013 was reorganized into the "Federation of wrestling Smolensk region"

Federation of free-style wrestling in the Smolensk region was founded in 1994. The first president of the federation was the master of sports of the USSR in freestyle wrestling, a member of the Regional Federation of Hand-to-hand Combat and Combat Sambo Paletskiy Dmitry Fedorovich, who headed the Federation until 2013.

In 2013, the Wrestling Federation of the Smolensk region was reorganized into the "Federation of the Wrestling Federation of the Smolensk region", the Russian master of sports in freestyle wrestling Oleg Marienkov was elected president.

Federation of wrestling Smolensk region became a full member of the Federal Security Service in 2013 and received state accreditation. The main goal of the Federation is the development and popularization of wrestling, and other types of martial arts. And also the promotion of physical culture and health classes. This is a new effective structure, the purpose of which is the popularization and development of wrestling in the Smolensk region and Russia. The Federation supports 3 types of sports: freestyle wrestling, women's wrestling and grappling.

In the Smolensk region, freestyle wrestling has developed in the cities of Smolensk, Vyazma, Rudne, Pochinok, Glinka, Roslavl, Safonovo, Katyn and Khislavichi. There is a department of combat sports in the Smolensk State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Youth Sports School No. 8 of the Smolensk Education Department. Every year competitions of the All-Russian and Federal scale are held. Freestyle wrestlers of different ages successfully compete in competitions of various levels.

The tasks of the Wrestling Federation of the Smolensk region:

  • Mobilization of efforts to promote, develop and popularize wrestling in the region;
  • Attracting the public to engage in sports wrestling;
  • Holding competitions and championships, special sport events: festivals and festivals;
  • Conducting analysis and making proposals to the relevant bodies for the further development of Russia's wrestling;
  • Development of cooperation and strengthening of interaction with other sports Federations;
  • Forming a wide network of public sports facilities for sports wrestling;
  • Increasing the role of physical culture and sports in the formation of a healthy lifestyle, personal development, health promotion;
